Familians heed the call for healthy diet

The Holy Family School community heeds to the call of the National Nutrition Council to foster a healthy lifestyle through the celebration of the National Nutrition Month.  With the theme “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit – for Life! “, this year’s celebration aims to promote healthy diets that would contribute to the reduction of the incidence of overweight, obesity and non-communicable diseases among Filipinos;

Garbed in colorful fruit or vegetable costumes, the kindergarten pupils’ parade opened the celebration on July 21, 2017.  In her opening remarks Mrs. Nora Jacob, TLE/Computer Coordinator apprised those in attendance with the significance of having a healthy lifestyle and how it is achieved.  Students and teachers alike spiritedly joined the dancercise led by the Grade 4 and 5 levels which followed shortly. Another dance presentation was given by the Grade 2 pupils which showcased their dancing prowess. Then the Kinder 1 and 2 pupils hit the runway with their costumes to the delight of the audience. Contests like line art, photography and cook fest were also a part of the celebration.

 A symposium took place in the afternoon which was participated by the high school students.  Dr. Ana Lyn Paterno, the school physician helped the students gain awareness on the importance of developing healthy eating habits. She explained,”Eating healthy diet doesn’t have to be complicated.  It is about healthy food choices and in moderation.”

Nutrition Month is an annual celebration in the country in pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 491, the Nutrition Act of the Philippines.
