TEACHER

Job Summary

The Teacher is primarily responsible for the implementation of research-based instructional strategies that direct the learning process and achievement of assigned students by developing, nurturing, and sustaining a school and classroom culture conducive to student learning.

Duties and Responsibilities
A. As Subject Teacher
• Assists in the review and reformulation of the school’s philosophy, vision, mission and objectives
• Promotes the building of an educational community with the spirit of Nazareth, especially by serving as role model to both teachers and students
• Works for his/her personal and professional formation by working on his/her spiritual, social, recreational, cultural, civic, intellectual and academic growth through seminars, in-service training, professional readings, attending graduate studies, etc. to keep himself/herself abreast with the latest trends in education in his/her field
• Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and school policy
• Promotes a positive image of the school and encourages community partnerships that enhance school programs and services
• Attends to all administrative requirements and responsibilities
• Attends meetings, assumes other responsibilities like committee membership, etc.
• Achieves curriculum objectives in the Learning Competencies as set forth by the Department of Education and SSJ Center of Education
• Promotes academic success as an important priority for all students
• Monitors students' academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction
• Supervises student activities and assists in maintaining student discipline in said activities during scheduled teaching time
• Assists/Takes charge of co-curricular activities like field trips, exposure trips, etc.
• Assists in the promotion and sectioning of students for the next level
• Attends school activities punctually and religiously
• Evaluates curricular tools, i.e. books and supplementary materials, learning packages and other print and non-print materials and equipment.
• Plans, develops, and evaluates course outlines/scope and sequence, subject syllabi, and other teaching tools
• Submits lesson plans for each subject taught in accordance with the approved course outlines
• Prepares and administers well-constructed tests and other evaluative tools
• Systematically measures student performance by a variety of assessment tools
• Promptly checks and records tests, quizzes, recitation, assignments, workbooks and other evaluative tools
• Makes the checked test papers available for parents
• Completes paperwork promptly and accurately; verifies and correctly enters data
• Encodes grades from the class record and ensures the accuracy of each entry and submits the same to the Academic Coordinator on time
• Assists in the deliberation for honor students, and/or disciplinary cases/matters if needed
• Handles approved remedial, special, and/or enrichment classes for students needing them
• Substitutes absent teacher/s
• Provides guidance and encouragement to help students profit from their participation
• Keeps the proper school authorities informed about emerging issues
• Ensures the safety of students under his/her direct supervision at all times
• Performs other related functions as may be assigned by superiors from time to time

B. As Classroom Adviser

In addition to the duties and responsibilities specified above, a classroom adviser:

• Accomplishes the data for school registers, Form 137, report cards statistical report, and attendance sheet
• Prepares and submits sectioning list of students for the next level
• Records students’ attendance daily in School Register and conducts daily health inspection
• Effectively implements basic classroom routines
• Makes effective use of the Character Education/Values Education period by discussing and expounding on topics and issues needing attention and action
• Communicates with parents the students’ academic and behavioral progress through a variety of means
• Conducts dialogue, counselling and home visits when needed
• Supervises approved fund raising projects
• Assists in the distribution, completion and collection of important forms from the offices of the registrar, cashier, guidance, coordinators, parents council, clinic, department heads and the directress
• Assists in the administration of achievement tests
• Supervision of advisory class during break time (especially for primary teachers)
• Provides and maintains a functional and conducive classroom for learning through use of facilities, materials and equipment
• Supervises class and co-curricular activities both in school and out of school
• Conducts annual inventory of classroom equipment and resources and submits it to the Office of the Principal

Job Requirements

• Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-School or Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education/Secondary Education or its equivalent with appropriate specialization/major or minor field, or its equivalent
• With adequate background in pedagogy
• LET Passer
• Must be of good moral character

SCIENCE LAB ASSISTANT

Job Summary

The Science Laboratory Assistant is primarily responsible for performing a range of duties related to the day-to-day operations of Science laboratories, which includes the preparation of media, supplies, materials, and equipment; maintenance of equipment and facilities; storekeeping functions; and proper and safe use of equipment and materials. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares schedules, in coordination with teachers, and monitors the use of Science laboratories
  • Orients teachers and students in the proper and safe use and operation of a variety of equipment and tools and orients students
  • Prepares and dispenses various media, cultures, and solutions. 
  • Ensures the return of all solutions and chemicals used in laboratory activities.
  • Assembles supplies and constructs apparatus; sets up and may assist in conducting experiments and demonstrations. 
  • Issues and receives materials and equipment for teachers and students’ use in laboratory and classroom assignments;
  • Keeps records and effects the return of supplies and equipment checked out to teachers and students. 
  • Operates, maintains, and makes minor adjustments and repairs on laboratory equipment such as microscopes and balances. 
  • Maintains inventory records of supplies, equipment, and specimens and prepares requisitions as needed. 
  • Stores supplies and equipment, disposes of solutions according to guidelines, and keeps storerooms and working areas orderly and clean. 
  • Washes and sterilizes laboratory glassware. 
  • Keeps laboratories tidy and clean work surfaces to remove any chemical or biological contamination, and hazardous materials in accordance with health & safety requirements
  • Takes care of live (plants and animals) specimens. 
  • Prepares periodic report related to laboratory activities
  • Maintains material safety data sheets for all chemicals and products. 
  • Reports damages to equipment and arrange repair and maintenance works
  • Performs related duties as assigned. 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree holder preferably in medical or applied science
  • Computer literate with knowledge in word processing and spreadsheets
  • Must be of good moral character

ACCOUNTING/PURCHASING STAFF

Job Summary

The Accounting/Purchasing Staff is primarily responsible for providing clerical assistance to the accounting department including purchasing, issuance and inventory control of office supplies and materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Encodes the daily income in Cash Receipt Book
• Updates and maintains the Book of Accounts, General Ledger and Subsidiary Ledgers
• Prepares the Trial Balance and the supporting schedules to financial statements.
• Performs any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records
• Checks the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions of the school
• Files official receipts, cash vouchers, petty cash forms, daily income summary, deposit slips, bank statements and other accounting forms
• Types/encodes the department’s outgoing communication reports and other related documents
• Maintains an updated records of all payments for utilities such as MERALCO, PLDT, Manila Water, Bayantel and the like
• Determines periodic requirements of supplies and materials
• Accepts approved requisitions and issues materials requested
• Records all requisitions and makes requests for necessary supplies to the Finance Officer for the approval by the Directress
• Places, keeps track and expedite orders with suppliers and ensures that documentation is in order, with terms and conditions being clear.
• Performs necessary purchasing duties
• Checks all deliveries/packages and issues requisitions appropriately
• Maintains files, orders supplies, form and updates appropriate records every quarter
• Conducts a quarterly inventory of office supplies and materials and submits the same to the Finance Officer
• Performs other related tasks that may be assigned by superiors from time to time.

Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree holder preferably in Accounting, Finance or related area
• Proficient in Microsoft Office application
• Good command of both English and Filipino languages
• Flexible, systematic and organized
• Must possess good interpersonal relations
